To our dear Friends and family at Manhattan Reefs,

As you know, we have made many changes over the course of several months.

Further to the changes you have already witnessed here some others.

MAX REEF is pleased to announce that we are under new management and welcome Peter E. to the team.

Peter comes to us with years of experience in the trade as both a professional and enthusiast alike, and has had extensive affiliations with firms such as ReefGen, JBJ, Red Sea, and Carib Sea, amongst others. Peter's enthusiasm and passion in the trade and the hobby make him a wonderful addition to the MAX REEF team.

Secondly MAX REEF is now only open for ONLINE SALES and by appointment only while other managerial and physical overhauls are underway.

If you wish to visit the showroom, please call Peter E. to arrange an appointment and we will accommodate you to the best of our ability.

We have other exciting new news to come, including possibly a MAX REEF membership/discount club, and special plans and events for all our Manhattan Reef friends.

You are all likely to be very very pleased, and we will SEE YOU ALL SOON!

kind of sucks to move from your first place in Yonkers to the Bronx then from the Bronx to conn and now we got to make appt to go and purchase fish if we are ever in the area. I kind of wish Ralph would have just kept it simple and stayed where he was at. Just my opinion everything was good in the first place.

Sometimes, I too would find myself in the bridgeport area but usually passing by on 95. If I cant just pull off the exist and come visit it probably wont work. However i will try if you PM me Pete E's phone contact.

You all complain but just remember who set the entire "Affordable" saltwater fish and coral in the first place. He was king of the hill of saltwater. Loved them in MT Vernonon where it all started. Enjoyed Yonkers as they grew. Bronx was the bomb with enormous selections. I know I'm not driving to where they are now cause it's really far from where I am but I wish them the best of luck cause they deserve it. Max Reef changed the entire game. Let's give Ralph support and not throw darts. He went through a lot and he deserves better from us. You'll always have a home in the big apple Ralph. We miss you.

no darts but lets face it, it sounds as if Max Reef is moving to become strictly an online retailer. I will be checking out the web site but if you ask me how many times I purchased coral online in the past 10 years... the answer would be zero. but thats just me.

Having said that I buy virtually all of my dry goods online. corals however are differant.

Tried calling today no answer. I agree though Max Reef set the standard for all the haters that were once ravers lets just remember the good and not dwell on the bad. We are fortunate that we can resort to proximity but I am sure they will do well where they are and wish em all the best.

For those of you that are concerned and/or disgruntled by the " appointment only" clause, please do not jump to conclusions.

At this point in time, we are simply suggesting to call and give us an approximate time, so that we may serve our hardcore committed customers, and provide you with the attention that you deserve.

We are by no means becoming or trying to appear as being pompous, we are trying to accommodate our supportive customers, to the best of our ability while we undergo major changes. Changes, that include but are not limited to:

A) Better Life Support Systems
B) A well executed and monitored Quarantine Facility ( in house )
C) A broader range of livestock
D) A friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous staff of ENTHUSIASTS!
E) A wider range of import resources
F) A full in house fabrication facility, providing custom aquariums, cabinetry and sumps
F) The most economical prices we can sustain.

Keep in mind, we do NOT forget those that got us here, and never will. Your support has been and always will be appreciated, and that can be seen in the flesh upon your visit(s).

We simply ask that you bare with us, and feel free to call and come on down/up to obtain the best service and the best goods, on the East Coast period.

There is also likely to be additional benefits to all our MR peeps out there, and this will be announced with a plan and/or member benefits package in rather short order.
