Yes we will be able to get the red again. Most likely we won't be able to get it again till the spring but i will see what i can do.

Similar algae's, also Gracillaria or a related genus (someone once pointed out the name of the local species..wasn't Gracillaria, but closely related) can be collected along LI Sound in the spring and summer. There is another type, brownish or tan in color but with the same growth pattern and texture, that I find in Peconic Bay during the summer. Tangs go wild over both of them.
