is there any way to cut the page length down in here?

I would definitly visit the Photo forum a lot more if it didn't take a month and a half to load one full page of photos.

I know I know friends don't let friends use dialup, but there are a lot of us that still use it

The problem is it can't be selectively applied to one forum. If you want only 10-15 posts per page, it would have to be for every forum.

I HIGHLY encourage everyong to post no more then one image per thread. The stated recommendation in this forum's usage terms was written to help reduce bandwidth for the connectivity challenged ;)

It seems like a big increase, but once you get used to the speed and all the new things you can do on the internet, you forget real quick about that extra $20 or so.

Cable kicks DSL's ass. I've been on Road Runner cable for 7-8 years now, and nothing compares.

Peace,

If cable is available.

If you have good connections in your area.

If all your neighbors are not on cable also.

Then you can say that.

Here is what torques me up about High speed connections

I am paying 22 for dialup

I have direct tv

Direct TV high speed is 600$ to install and 60/month

Cable high speed is 40 to install and 60/month (because I am not a cable subscriber, nor do I want to be)

DSL, phone line is not available in my area

So, I am staying with dialup, I will just start loading the non reef photo thread before I go to work in the morning, that way it will be almost loaded by time I get home from work.

$60 a month! in US funds! 8O
what kind of speeds do you get with a service like that?

here you can get a "high speed" cable/dsl connection for roughly $20-40 depending on what package/bundle/promotion you are on. and that is in Canadian funds!

getting speeds ranging from 100-400 kb/s.

Around here the goin rate for DSL or Cable I can have either is $50/month. I *think* I saw it come down to $35 for some special deal for a year usually it's only $35 for 3 months then it goes back to $50.

I've found that DSL has been more stable than cable at least in Nashua.

Ours is $54 with all the taxes etc. ADSL 1000/128 advertized. I usually am running 850/110, but I have seen better than 1000 for a short time. We are semi-rural, meaning we are a little town, about 200 people and we have an equipment shed where a T1 is run to. About 2 blocks away, but the main office is 6 miles. Cable no longer exists and has never existed here for Internet. Most everyone has gone Dish Network or Direct TV for TV. Dialup is $24 with the taxes. Microwave is the same as DSL with the added equipment expense. Speeds are supposed to be same as DSL but I think the stability edge is with the DSL.

Of course you have the ability to yack on the phone and surf the net at the same time. That alone beats dialup.
