it sounds like a good beginner book. Swing by a B&N and check one out first. The only problem I see is that it's Copyright 2002. and it's now late 2003. Digital cameras have come along way in the last year, so it may be a little out of date.

However, The basics like shutterspeed, aperature, and such won't ever change. they are what they are, so the info will still be usefull.

What kind of "technical aspects" are you looking for? If you're wanting to learn the actual electronics of the camera, I'd pick up a computer mag, or maybe even popular photography. check online for how it works articles, and go from there.

If you're looking for books on the Teche of digital cameras, (the art of taking pictures, rather than the photos themself) try looking at film photography first. The knowledge transfers into digital photography quite easily.

Try looking up the Group f/64. They were really into pushing what they could do with the camera, making perfect prints in-camera. (rather than fixing things in the darkroom.)

Hope this helps

Thanks, Bingo. I like what I hear about the description of that book, and Amazon is FULL of good reviews about it from both experienced photographers and beginners. I'm looking for something that has it all, and maybe that's too much to ask, starting from composition, to turning the composition into a nice image, to post processing. I will check out f/64.

I think I am getting the book, so I'll let you know what I think of it.

hmm, I reccommend a book for each subject

photoshop - Photoshop 7 Artistry: Mastering the Digital Image http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... s&n=507846

or The Photoshop Book for Digital Photographers http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... PDKIKX0DER

general photgraphy, - look for titles by John Shaw, Zuckerman, Bryan F. Peterson etc also on-line http://www.naturephotographers.net/courses.html, http://www.betterphoto.com/online-photo ... ourses.asp

lets see, then theres www.luminous-landscape.com, and www.dpreview.com

and if your camera is a sony, or nikon.. http://www.digitalsecrets.net/secrets/home.html is a great book on its use

that should get you started, now when you're ready for underwater photography, thats a whole other list :)
