Hey desmosthenes, welcome to RDO!!!! :-D

What part of Indiana are you in? I'm in Indy. How cool, more midwest reefers!

Ack! Not an IU person!! Nooo, the waters of RDO have been polluted!!! (I'm Purdue, class of '97 :wink: ). Just kidding, bud! That's awesome to have more reefers close! Are there any decent stores down bloomington way?

Haha! No there are no good stores here at all. I have to go to Indy or over to Terre Haute to find any good places. I would be interested in knowing of any good places up there though. Here's the ones I know of;

Premium Aquatics

Well that's all I can think the names of. I know there's another one something or other systems. Then of course Uncle Bills that I hate going to. Any others I should check out?

Nah, there's really not a great deal of specialty places in Indy, unfortunately. There's a place on the northeast side (off of Binford) called The Abyss. They have a fantastic selection, but they're kind of pricey (think $30+ for a coral beauty angel). I tend to frequent the couple places here in Greenwood and just bide my time waiting for the rare event of a super fish or awesome coral coming in. Like for instance the harlequin tusk I just picked up. I know the fish-guy at the Uncle Bill's here in greenwood and he's pretty knowledgable(sp?).

I bought a clown tang from them a couple weeks ago, he was doing great but died due to a pump failure that caused loss of oxygen in the tank. Do you go to any of the Indiana Coral Club meetings?

Sorry ya'll for the slow response. I've been busy fighting my home builder for the past week. Trying to make sure they get my new house done in time to avoid the dreaded double move, impossible with a 180 tank. Anyway, I am located in Indy, Carmel to be exact. For a city the size of Indy, we are lacking for a decent fish store. I usually frequent Premium Aquatics and still make the drive up to Lafayette to Aquarium World. As for a local reef club, there is one in Indy but can't quite remember when and where they meet. Will try to dig up info for you.

Ahh, good old aquarium world. I worked for them for several years while I was in college!! There's another great store in lafayette, or at least there was last time I was there (last year). Run out of the back of an antique shop, but they were great people and had good stuff. Cool Corals, it was called.

I agree about the lack of good specialty stores here in Indy. Even evansville (where my wife's family is from) has some great stores. Have you ever been to Abyss off of Binford and 62nd (I think it's 62nd)? Great stuff, but high priced.

Hmmm, you sounds familiar. By chance did you use to own an aquarium maintenance company called Shark something or rather? I worked there for a little bit when Jayd was short-handed. Cool coral is still around, but not as well stocked as before. They use to have interesting pieces but now it's just the same old stuff. They are really pushing some addititive that they package. If you haven't done so already, take a drive to Terre Haute to Inland or up north to Harbor.
