The former Grissom AFB is right on the highway I take to visit my parents. It's a rarely used reserve base now, but for a long time while I was growing up it was one of the main bases for the KC-135 Stratotanker refueling planes, as well as the A-10s that were used so extensively in Gulf War I. Now it's mostly a commercial air shipping facility, but they have a snazzy little air museum that's free and easy to get to.
