I was just reading the rules, for fun, and it says no borders on submissions, but I seem to remember one of the winners having a border. Am I high?

You're not high (or maybe you are, I don't know), but you're right. Honestly, we (admins) just forgot for awhile. It has been brought to our attention, though, and since winners were declared and whatnot in past contests, we decided that what's done is done, and we weren't going to revoke past winners based on our error.

In present (and future) contests, though, any submissions with borders, we're sending PMs to ask the posters to resubmit a 'guideline' version of the photo, or it will not be considered for the contest. Usually I check in on each contest once a week or so.

You fools! I wasn't looking for a recall. I was looking ot add borders to my photos! I like borders. They show where things begin and end.

I agree, I like borders too, and put them on nearly every photo I take. But in terms of the contest, Len, NKT, and I talked about it and came to the decision that for contests the photo should be judged, and sometimes borders add to the photo, sometimes they detract from it, and all in all it was a possibly decisive factor that we could eliminate easily enough. It helps keep everyone's photos on a more level playing field.

Yes!!! For those of us that don't even know how to make a border like that, it's more fair! We don't have to be photoshop gods, just decent picture takers. ;)

Hmm, maybe I should make a post with directions on how to do my trademark drop-shadow in PS-E. It's actually relatively easy, just several steps.

Will Photoshop 5.0 LE do that? Or only the full blown God version? :P

I do my borders with photoshop elements. Dunno if the older "LE" version will, but I would think yes, if it can work with at least 2 layers.

With the new camera (Canon digital rebel), I can basically go w/o photoshop for actual image manipulation in probably 75% of my photos. With my old Minolta and older Sony, I had to manipulate every image to adjust color if nothing else. Can you tell I'm thrilled with the canon??!! :D
