I'm going to switch this over to our equipment forum, where it'd be a bit better situated.
Welcome to RDO, naso1!!! :-D
I've just switched cameras away from a Minolta DiMage series. I had the 7i. Not sure which model exactly is the A1, but the 7i was Minolta's 'prosumer' model. It was a really good camera, had great image quality, tons of features, etc. What made me leave it was the lack of interchangable lenses (I've since gone to a D-SLR) and the relatively slow autofocus (I do a lot of sports photography).
Being in the DiMage line, I'd assume that the A1 has similar positives and negatives. I'm sure someone more familiar with that exact model will correct me, though! ;-)
The A1 is the upgrade for the 7hi. It sounds like a nice little camera with the image stabilization. You might want to check out the formus at dpreview.com and see what users are saying about it.
Well cool, I didn't know they were upgrading the 7Hi already! My old camera, the 7i, was the previous model to the Hi. It's a solid little camera, a little heavy on battery use, but not too bad. (Maybe they fixed that in the a1--I'd heard it was improved in the 7Hi)
