Took this one over the weekend at the lakehouse in Minocqua. I like the way this shot turned out- it really is a metaphor for life up there. So much blood, sweat, and tears went into that place.

So, thoughts? Critiques?

I like it. Seems to have a lof of symbolism and depth of feeling to it. Snazzy!

I can't give away all my photographic secrets, Wazzel. ;)

The dirt was there, I just shaped it a little.

I wonder how it would look with some grain added to it. And/or maybe even in sepia. Hmm. It just has such a nostalgic, 1940s look to it already (to me anyway).

Nobody died during or for the shooting of this photo

Hmmm, that statement instantly devalued the pic. Didn't they said only when the painter is dead, his artworks double, triple, or quadruple its value?

A flash fill would have been nice. Bring out the shovel. It's a bit dark. Otherwise, it was very nice.

Interesting. I'm a mite colorblind, but is that photo just a red channel, or red & blue? It isn't sepia-toned, is it?

I like the look of it, but it certainly gives the image a different feel. Not the original almost morosity, but more like a morningtime loneliness or quiet.

here's a quick bronze quad-tone of it, after lightening the shovel to bring it up from the background a little

It's an excellent photo. Personally.. especially if it had a special meaning... I wouldn't hesitate to frame it for display in the home :)
