I have a pic of my Atlantic Blue Tang that I want to enter into the photo contest. However, when I shrink it below 256K, the background gets so blury that it ruins the picture.

I am shooting the pic at 640 X 480, then using Photoshop's "save for web" feature to shrink it. The file starts out at 900K.

Any better way?

Louey,
I use Photoshop quite a bit, but I don't care for it's compression algarithums.
I prefer ACDSee for simple viewing, batch renaming and batch compression (with no visible loss to quality, assuming you stay within reasonable parameters.) I use mine to batch resize and rename between 3000-6000 photos per day (no joke)
Try out thier demo, I did, and I thought it was well worth the 49.99.

Thanks Bar. I wonder if outlook express compressed it. The file I attached was 900K.

Klienfreak, I'll check out that demo software. Thanks!
