Ok, this is REALLY late, but I just wante dto say both are great cameras. I actually like the A80 more because it's "normal" pictures come out outstanding, but the 4300 has more features suitable for aquarium photography. Nikon, being a macrophotography specialist, always makes great macro capable cameras. Either camera will give you great results though.

My wife has the A70 and it's a great camera! It does nice macro through the glass and MPEG's (30 sec. clips). My wife and I also dive and she has the Cannon underwater housing good to 140 feet. I got the Sea&Sea external strobe for those deepwater shots, and it's amazing. The A70 is 3.2mp, so the A80 should be plenty of camera at 4.0mp, and the price is killer too!

if you want good macro capabilities - get the nikon. Thats what they're good (and famous) for.

I've got a coolpix 2500, and the only reason why I bought it was for the macro capabilities (since it was cheaper than a macro lens ;))[/img]
