Here are some Photo's from my hiking trip into the Sangre De Cristo mountains in Southern Colorado. These were all taken on July 4th and 5th of 2003.

None of these photos have been altered except for brightness because my shutter speed was too slow.

Wow, talk about bringing back some old memories. I lived in a little placed called Espanola (a ~ over the 'n') in New Mexico. The Sangre de Cristo range was to the east of us. I lived in a tiny little house about a quarter mile from the Rio Grande. Beautiful place, when I first came to the area in June '83, it snowed.

So I assume you are familiar with Crestone and that area down there... ? Man, it was my first time to Colorado and we climbed three 14ers in two days. One was from the middle of another one though, so really, only two.
When we reached the top of Crestone, you can see the Sand Dunes at GSD National Park about 10 miles to the south.
What a truly amazing area.
It's funny, the afternoon before we eft, my friend and fellow adventure racer called me up and said, "Wanna go climb a mountain?". It was about 5 in the afternoon and I had when he wanted to leave. I just said "yeah, why not" and we left the next afternoon from Fayetteville.
We had not had any sleep yet when we arrived, and Israel wanted to climb... so without sleep and without nuch warn clothing, we climbed Mt Shavano which is about 30 miles North of Crestone. The next day we did Crestone and the Carsons.... We left on a Friday night and we got back home On Monday morning. What a great 4th of July weekend.
