well, i've been off in obscurity for a while, moved from maine to texas a couple months ago now, and I've also been working my butt off at my new job to raise funds for my new camera.

well, i got it yesterday :) the canon digital rebel - mainly because I had existing canon lenses and I really did not want to go through the hassle of getting rid of my lenses and switching to nikon (it was tempting, believe me).

now, just to set up a reef tank (my next project after a macro lens and other cool toys ;)) and to find room for it!!!

Groovy! There are a couple others (myself included) that shoot the 300D. I think you'll be really happy with it. I'm a semi-pro photographer on the side and am quite comfortable doing professional gigs with the 300D.

Mmmm.... :drool drool: I'd love to get a nice fast long lens. I'll be saving for awhile. ;-)

My dad has, upon his retirement, decided to get back into photography. First thing he did was go out and buy himself the Nikon D70 (IIRC), I believe it's a DSLR. He's got a couple of cheap lenses, already bought himself a photo printer. I told him he'd for sure need a good monitor with calibration software/tools.

I can't even hold a candle to my dad in terms of photography. <sigh>

I've had my D70 for 2 weeks now and am very impressed with this camera. Easy to use and remarkably fast. I have several nikon lenses so it was worth the wait.

yeah, the D70 is a nice camera - every time we get some in they sell out almost immediately!!

I like the rebel though, I took it for a test run at the fort worth zoo today, and although i don't have the best lenses, it focuses quite fast, and the images (which i've yet to process) look pretty good from what i've seen, as is the color....

so next on my list is a macro, followed closely behind a telephoto and teleconverter also ;) then after that, probably an ultrawide angle lens

Can't wait untill my GF buys one (300D). I'm still stuck with my elan IIe. I've got some cannon stuff she'll use, and I get to use the camera when she's not!

Anyone want to buy a Powershot S400? I'd even trade it for a Canon G5!
