What are the filters/enhancements that need to be done to make the fluorescent characteristics come through in digital images? As an extreme example, I bought these palythoas from farms-of-thesea dot com and I want to know how to photochop to make my image look like his. See below:

Looks like they boosted saturation and contrast a great deal, for one thing.

What I would do, is screw your tank lights, shoot with flash held over the tank (I've always gotten great results doing that), shoot in raw so that you can pre-process the image, then also do some post-processing to enhance saturation, play with the curves, etc.

Sharkky, that sounds great but could you translate it into English? I understand the Photo shop stuff but exactly how does one "Screw your tank lights" or "shoot in raw"? :?

Liquor them lights up and blow sweet nothings into their ear. Hate to speak for John....but I'd bet he meant to not use the tank lighting...or at least don't rely on it as the "main" source lighting. An off camera flash/strobe (lighting) unit works well/best in most cases. Usually used from above the tank and often times with the lights and lid removed (or shut off). Many ways to light a subject to capture a look/mood.

RAW is a format like Tiff and Jpeg. Most if not all modern digital cameras have this function available. It makes capturing the most digital information possible. (you will get a bland semi out of focus image originally..and will have to process in PS or like to bring out this information to suit your tastes). You will need to view and post process this RAW information in special software (ie photoshop ). This type of format/file allows you (the photographer/artist) to manipulate many of the traits of the image. (ie. contrast, color balance, hue, saturation, sharpness, white balance etc etc). This gives you more versatility and also in some ways covers your butt (exposure speaking) incase you don't nail exposure dead on. Do a google search for RAW, exposing to the right, RAW processing, sharpening).
