Since I posted this over at "the other" forum, figured I'd share here too

Snatched this up for a few pennies today, ok 3000 of them, placed in my grow out tank until I can be absolutely sure my main tank is ok. Under a 175w 14000k hamiliton.

Dude, awesome specimen. I wonder if it's going to turn red or orange or stay pink. I'd love a frag when it grows out :)

Well this is the color under 14kK under normal overhead lighting, ie with a camera flash it does look a tad more orange. But that's true of most corals, the fluorescence looks bit more different. So if you had 6500k bulbs with no actinic this is the color it'd be (still nice IMO). Eitherway I'll post an update in a month or so.

I was just warning you was all.
( I have been running hamilton halides in all spetrums for the past 6 years or so LOL! , I know exactly what each Kelvin wil turn them.)

Nice. All my caps are never that "thick" looking. Is that because of a lack of calc? (I admit to not doing frequent WCs or additions).

Yeah make sure you keep up on the calcium, strontium, Iodine, and Molybdenum. If you dont already have some you can dose both Strontium and Molybdenum at one time with Kent Marine's "Strontium and Molybdenum". It actualy takes care of quite a few essential elements at once, (strontium, magnesium, potassium & molybdenum).
I use thier iodine concentrate as wel as the above, with GREAT results.
I also use amino acids, and Micro-vert, and Coral accel.
I run a mixed tank so I need mixed formulas.
So far so good, no adverse results in doing so! "Knocks on wood!".
You should be able to retain the orange if you do the above, and see wonderfull growth.
