Hi all-

Looking to get back into the hobby. Been a few years since I kept a couple large reef tanks when I was in high school then had to abandon the hobby for college + move to NYC. I'm serious about it - almost went to school for it.

Do many of you purchase water from any certain local aquarium store? I'm honestly looking to get a small eclipse setup (yes, minimal investment) so I can get my feet wet before getting something more permanent in my apartment.

I understand that Manhattan water is some of the best, but not sure I'm ready to invest in another RO system, keep salt in my place, etc for an experimental ~20 gallon tank.

Any recos for where to pick up 5 gallons of reef water every few weeks? Will they think I'm crazy? Used to be the norm down South but yall aint the same round these parts!

Thanks for your help. SO happy to have found the forum.

Cheers

I use the petco water. I have been using it with no issues since I made the switch to salt from fresh. It is the best value for premade salt water on the market. I also use Poland spring distilled water for top off with no issues.

Petco and petland both sell water,
Petco- 5 gallon=$$ forgot
Petland-4.4 gallon. =$16.00

Witch is good if you have a nano but let's say a 90g and better would just be to much $$$$

But ones in a while I get the petland water and it helps out alot. IMO :)

Pet goods in Scarsdale sells salt and RO/DI water
I believe it's 12.99 for a 5Gal but refills are 6 whenever you bring the bucket back with you.Pretty good deal if you as me and I have to admit their water's seemed to work very well for me. (Wont be using them any more though because I just got my RO/DI filter so I'll be making my own water :) )
