Good point. Use food grade silicone grease. A little tube of it will last you for years.

Most likley it has pressure still on it, you will have a very hard time opening it with any pressure on it. The less costly units usually have no button to releive the pressere you will need to do it yourself, most likley having to disconnect the feed and outlet. And yes lube the o ring it makes it easier to get a good seal when you put it back on, you can get a small tube of plumbers faucet grease from a hardware store. They should all open counter clockwise, but thats looking from the bottom up.
