Two weeks ago I bought this beautiful (but very small) Yellow Tang for my 55 gallon tank. (Don't worry I'll part with him in one year so he can grow in a bigger pond).

He looks good. Swims well. I started him on flake and he has been tearing it up with a good appetite. After two weeks he's become conditioned to reacting to my presence around the tank - getting excited about eating. I'd say he's / she's pretty healthy. (by the way can you tell what gender it is?).

Last night I bought two clowns (who are still a little shy around eating). I decided to buy some Nori and treat the Tang to it. (I bought the clowns and the Nori at Manhattan Aquariums - who kept their business open five more minutes to sell me this!)

I made a little plastic net bag which has a magnet to hold the Nori and I put it in the tank. The Tang didn't even care - didn't even investigate it. Neither did the clowns.

I left it in over night - not a single bite at this thing.

I took it out of the net bag and I sank it with down. Again Tang didn't care. When I go home from work and the Nori is still sitting there completely intact... what do I do now?

Thanks,

Have you tryed using garlic extreme to mix with the nori food?

I did have the same problem trying to feed my clowns flakes since they go so use eating brine shrimp. But however i did drop about 1-2 dripps of garlic extreme with flakes and mixed it. But they didnt eat the flakes at first. The next day i fed them flakes and they ate all the flakes i was wow that worked lol.

Have you tried other types of seaweed? Not all tangs feel the same way about Nori, some like a particular type of seaweed. For example my blue hippo won't ear red seaweed but loves Nori while my Naso hates the Nori but loves green seaweed. Meanwhile my friend's Naso is the exact opposite! Picky eaters I guess, but sometimes you just have to find what they like, garlic laced foods are nice and good for the immune system but it won't guarantee they'll eat something either.

Also how are you feeding them the nori?

My fish are eating green with garlic. Dropped a couple soft pieces in near the clip, then they found their way to it..
Now they attack the clip like shark week
