That is a pretty in-depth article and sounds like what could have taken place..... Lot of work to get back. If fish are needed to host, the live rock and inverts won't be effected? Or just can't host on them?

Like ich, live rock and Inverts can stay in the tank during the fallow period.

But unlike ich, fish usually can't fight it off, leaving you little options
