I'm thinking of getting a refugium for my tank. Want to know what you MRer's use or recommend. I was looking at the hang-on the back CPR-refugium.

I do have a 20 gallon long sump that house's my equipment. Would it be better if I just put a divider in the tank and have my refugium in my sump.

Hey Zoous, IMO the CPRs are overpriced. If you are a somewhat do it yourself kind of guy check out this thread:
http://www.manhattanreefs.com/forum/diy-do-yourself/10201-diy-hob-refugium.html

Theres a lot more options wiith HOB. size and stuff and it isnt hard at all. Just remember to put some sort of screen so the snails dont crawl back inside the HOB filter. You can also section off departments with the use of silicone and plastic (cd cases...you get the picture). I dont think the CPR is worth it's price honestly, unless you want a clean clean look.

Thanks Froggie for the link.

And I just recently gave my aquaclear power filter away to a friend. Oh well I guess I should think about getting a used one from somewhere else.

You need to get some glass for the baffles and silcone.

This thread on RC walks you through on how to make a refug on a tank, including how to silcone in the baffles and even rise one of them. You need to measure the space requirements for your skimmer and you want to make sure the compartment where you return pump is in is a good size otherwise your going to run out of water fast and need to top off a lot.
