I am planning on finally starting my very first tank this August, but before then I would love to learn as much as possible. I browse MR for a couple hours every week and this has been very helpful but what I really feel like I need is an excellent book for beginners. Something that will explain everything from the very basics.

So I am here asking what books do you recommend?

Thanks Jimmy. I know what to ask my grandmother to gift me for summer reading.

Randy, just reassuring you I still have The Reef Aquarium Vol. 1 and the reference book and they are safe :)

I would just go for The Reef Aquarium 3
Its the bible of reef books, Volumes 1 & 2 are great too. BTW, you cant just read it once and understand it. its more of a reading and doing that makes it work.
Then you can come here and ask all the questions you need.
Welcome to the family of Reef Junkies
hey, btw are you related to Taylor Dane?
