How can you tell when you have or don't have enough flow in the tank? Especially how can you tell if your corals are getting enough flow or no flow in the tank? Reason I ask is because im starting to get red slime on my sand bed now. I know it cant be from light because I just have my lights on for 5 hours a day. I'm not overfeeding my tank. But im going more towards water flow not cycling all around my tank. May I be getting red slime because I don't have enough flow in the tank or its still part of the cycle? I know that my tank parameters are good haven't had no fish go to heaven or even inverts and corals too. Im currently running 2x 750 GPH powerheads in the tank right now and I still don't see enough flow going around the tank.

Low flow does play a role in cyno growth but its not the cause of the bacteria itself. You have excess nutrients in the tank that the cyno is feeding off of. Are you running a phosban reactor? How many fish do you have and how often do you feed? There has to be something adding nutrients to your water for cynobacteria to rear its ugly head. You can try switching your flow around a lil but it you face it directly on your sandbed your gonna have a sandstorm.

Following: cause I know SPS needs lots of flow, but softies,LPS & zoas don't need as much.

Yet in my 57g I didn't use much flow cause I had a frogspawn and other corals that seem not to like much flow, and started getting red slime in the side of my sand bed, :-/

i personally think is part of ur cycle cuz of ur new set up. cuz if u have 2 750 ph pushing i think thats fine .. but of course it all depends on ur aquascape and where u have the ph

My powerheads are on the side of the tank from left and right and my rock work is in the back glass of the tank. The powerheads i have don't let me put them how i want the flow to go it just shoots out straight.
