I've had my rock and live sand in for about 5 days. Bought bought 50lbs of Real Reef Cultured Rock from Aquarium Village, 60lbs of base rock and 10lbs of cured fiji premium live rock. I've performed tests for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate levels and they're all reading zero. Can't really tell for ammonia though, I'll provide a pic to see if maybe you guys can...
What I was wondering is if I should provide some type of food source for the bacteria, or should I just wait for some things in the fiji rock to decay and that be the food source (dealer said there would be some decay from the fiji rock). I've read putting some cocktail shrimp as a food source. My SWC 180 also keeps overflowing. Read somewhere that I should keep it off until the cycle is done and break it in afterwards. What do you guys/gals think on both?
-Pic with all three was taken yesterday (4 days in) and pic with just ammonia was taken today (5 days in).
Appreciate any input!
