Red cyano

So theres this rusty color looking stuff building up in patches on my sand bed in my refugium, any information on this?

Its most likely diatoms. They are nothing to worry about being your set up is fairly new. They should go away with regular water changes. Plus, its in your fuge and not the DT so your good to go

You think so? I'll post a picture up later, cause I had diatoms before and it didn't look like this. My tank went through diatoms, green hair algae, and now well the display at least has been perfect. Could it be that my skimmer is in my refugium and it's causing a really slow flow?

w/o a pic it's hard to help, but most unwanted algaes are caused by excess nutriants, phosphates, nitrates, silicates..etc...

But wouldn't it be in my display tank too? One thing I noticed is that the sand in my refugium isn't really live, no gas bubbles, no worms, nothing while my display has it all
