Glass cover or not?

I have a solarmax pro H.O. T5 lighting with a glass hood. Just wondering if I should or shouldn't have the hood? Thanks

Did it come with the hood? If it came with it, I would said that it should have it

No. Got the hood separate. Got em from fishtown but I then heard their not the best advice givers. That's why im asking you guys and girls.

Can you clarify...are we talking about the shield on the light fixture or a glass cover on a tank??

If a fixture, yes it needs to have a shield on the fixture.

The glass tank cover. The shield is still on the light.

Tanks should not have glass covers on them as it greatly reduces the oxygen exchange.
They also tend to accumulate moisture on them which in turn reduces your lighting effectiveness..so all around they are a poor idea.

But they should have a net cover to stop your fish from carpet surfing! :fish:
