So my mp40w keeps falling off the tank, this is pissing me off like crazy!!!! I have the sticky pad that holds the wire in place which also falls off. what can i do in order for it to stay?
How thick is the tank glass? Are you using the correct spacer for the correct thickness? I have a thin rubber pad that goes on the outside that seems to hold mine in place also.
I got the 57 oceanic without the spacer and it keeps tight , I can't see why yours is fAlling off, could your magnet have lost its charge or something??
I just had this happen to my Mp60. It fell off and took another Mp60 with it hitting the floor and breaking bolth of them. Needless to say I am not a happy camper. I had this happen once before. One of my larger fish got spooked and slammed into the wetside wich fell off and then the weight of the magnet was too much for the safety measures on the outside causing them to fall.
My MP60 kept sliding down my tank so before i took a chance of it falling off (This may be a stupid idea) I superglued the dry side to the acrylic. It's a 450 gallon so I knew the tank isn't going anywhere soon and It will probably last me more then the MP60 will so I just put it in it's permanent spot and superglued it.
I can remove the dry side though because the plastic cover of the magnet is binded with the rest of the metal so pulling hard enough one day I got it to snap so now the MP60 can just slides into the plastic and wont fall off or I can take it off if I really need to by just sliding it off the plastic cover.
the rubber part of the dry side pulls off and you rotate it and line up the little posts..... the wire really does not matter but if you use the wire holders they are better off on top....
Use the thinnest pin spacer setting. And you must use the wire zip tie above the dry side. That's what keeps it from damage if it falls
If u need pics. I can get them late tonight
I found that the wire tie down pads will adhere to the tank for a few months at best before the glue wears and they pop off. I have taken to crazy glueing them in place.
May not want to crazy glue them on your tank if it is acrylic though as removing the pads may be problematic.
