Hi all. This is my first time posting, but i've been lurking for awhile.

So I have:
30 lbs of real reef rock in my display
30 lbs of tropic eden agrasugar
20 lbs of live tropic eden mini reef flakes on top of the agrasugar
10 lbs of live rock in my sump
instant ocean reef crystals

my water params (all salifert tests) are:
SG 1.024
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
Nitrate 2.5
Calcium 470
Phosphate 0.03
Silicate 0.03
KH hardness 10.9
Diossolved oxygen 10
Magnesium 1400

I set the tank up a 8 days ago. I used dr tim's the one and only live nitrifying bacteria on thursday and put in a cube of demysis shrimp. It seems like i'm ready for a clean up crew given nitrate presence and no ammonia or nitrite, but from what i've read it seems like my tank cycled really fast. too good to be true?

Thanks in advanced,
Willie

Sounds about right for the cycle with the extra nitrifying bacteria and mysis to spike your ammonia. The tank is cycled and ready for a simple clean up crew. I would give it another 2 weeks after adding that before doing a big jump in the bioload of the tank just to let the bacteria further establish in the tank. That part still takes time.

Grats on the Midi. Was eying it because of the cool bent glass hood but got the mini instead. Wife liked the smaller size on the mini.

ok thanks guys! I love this setup. Yeah I got the aquatop because I'm pretty convinced my cat would try and go fishing. I got two blue LEDs for it and 2 white.

I'm definitely curious to see how your tank goes tosiek, was just checking out your thread. and DANG zimon your mini is sick!

I gotto get pics, got a fish and some coral to start. Just gotto update everything.

Elos Aquastudio had the new Elos LED's that fit perfectly inside the Aquatop that are comparable to the AI vega and Radion. They are really nice but have the hefty pricetag of like 850+$ for just the unit. + controller and + any extra lighting strips the fixture comes out to over 1k$. Their old Elite system is nice but it doesn;'t compare to the AI's, radions or the new Elos LED's sadly and its pricetag is what you would pay for the AI Vega or AI sol + controller.

not much going on but what do you think of the real reef rock? its a little purple, but with other stuff in the tank i'm hoping it will be less obvious. i'll snap some pics of the sump and cabinet this weekend, when i've dealt with all the wires. :thrash:

oh yeah and i'm getting another 10 lbs of rock to make a 3rd pedestal.
