I should be getting my sump from Max Reef some time next week. Its going to have a Refugium chamber.

What exactly do you place in it? Live sand? Live rock? How much of each? I've seen postings about using mud.

What do you recommend? What do you use?

Thanks everyone.

You can do a micro algae plant's. Look it up online, there's pics of it and info. Some others do a algae scrubber. I'm thinking about micro algae refugium when I setup my tank and system. I'm on a slow planning goo luck what you decide on.

theres different ways you can set one up. Out of ease of maintenance I use rubble rock (small porous rock and coral skeletons) and cheato macro algae. the cheato just floats on top of the rock on the surface of the water right below water level. This will give places for little critters like copepods reproduce as well as act as a nutrient export.

That sounds like an interesting approach James. Do you use live sand at all?
