Has anyone ever used 90 degree sweep elbows instead of regular 90's?

I've been reading The Reef Aquarium, Vol.3 and they recommend sweep 90's over other 90's and even 45 degree fittings. Apparently they produce less friction as it is a gentler curve.

Just curious what you all think.

Thanks for the input.

it depends on what you are using them for. If you want to slow down your drains into your sump for noise then a regular 90 is a good thing to use. I have several 90s on my drains. If you are using them on your return lines then 90s will add back pressure to your pump and slow down your flow. General rule is each 90 adds 1 foot to your head. So when factoring for a return pump you need to add them into the equation.
