Hey MR.. I'm fairly new to the hobby and new to this site (I have been on reef central). I started my tank about 8 months ago and I've had ups and downs but nothing too bad(ICH was my worst experience). I'd like to start getting into corals so I want to get some reactors(GFO, carbon, etc.) calcium being the last. I have an Eheim canister filter that I'd like to use as a reactor. Has anyone done this before and if so whats the best way to go about it? What media should I use and how many different kinds can i use in one canister?

I would say sell the canister and with the money get actual reactors. GFO and carbon require different flow rates. I'm not fond of dual reactors (unless each chamber has its own in and out lines like my next reef MR-1 monster) or canisters because you can't set the correct flow separate. If you get 2 single reactors you can. In my opinion it's the best way to go.

Good luck with it.
