Hey there, I'm new here and Just wanted to say "Hello!"

I just started a 10 gallon tank, and in 5 posts I'll b able to show you some pics!

My friend has had a tank for about 6 years now. He had a 14 gallon tank and 2 months ago he upgraded to a 28 gallon tank. Since he had a new tank with more space he had to fill it with new corals. So for the past 2 months he's been dragging me around with him to all the local aquarium stores.

Originally I didn't care about fish or aquariums, but after running around for about a month I started to get the itch. So about two weeks ago I went to WalMart and bought a basic 10 Gallon Starter Kit Tank.
It came with a 10 Gallon rectangle Tank, a filter and a lid with lights.

I bought some live sand and made some salt water. It ran for about 3 days until I bought a few pieces of Figi Live Rock

By the end of the week the water had gotten pretty clear and I bought a two pieces of base rock. I wasn't happy til one of the pieces started to change color. Once that happened I knew I was on my way.

So here's what my tank looked like for the 1st few days

Here it was once the water started to clear up a bit

My friend let me have some aqua puddy & glue so I moved my rock around

And yesterday I was finally able to buy some coral, so here's what my tank looks like now

What do you guys think?

Setup has lots of potential, one recommendation I'd make is remove that pump and get like a koralia or something similar for flow.

the pump belongs to my friend, he's letting me borrow it til I get my own. So I will be in need of a new pump soon.

Anyone here know any good aquarium shops on Long Island?

Check out Aquarium Village in Garden city. Great place and they are vendors on this site. If your more east you can check Aquahut in coram especially for dry goods
