I am using the API test kits. I am asking why my alkalinity is so high? Is it dangerous? I dusted equal amount of B-Iionic (5ml) 2-3x per week for last few weeks. Should I only dose Ca and let the KH drop and then resume ?
I've never used API test kits but 161.1 does not seem like a possible number. I thought you were using a Hanna checker and that number would convert to 9 dkH which would be fine. Maybe someone with an API test kit could chime in.
9 dkh = 161 parts per million.. they are one in the same just different ways to say it..9 is a good number to keep at how do the corals look if all are happy let it be.. the cal is a touch low but like i said above, if all is fine they are both in the acceptable range..Whats your mag at if your mag is low then you will have trouble maintaining cal and alk levels.
It is a bit high (are you adding it to the tank?), it should be around 1300 or so, but shouldnt cause to much of a problem that high if the tank looks good.
