Hey everyone... I just picked up a sixline wrasse today and wondered if anyone had any advice for me. He seems to be adjusting well already, just thought I'd see if there are any ideas to make him more at home.
Thanks.

Also got an arrow crab, but due to my bristleworm population he's one happy crab. Any advice on him would be welcomed as well!

As the legs and arrow of this crab is very long make sure you know where he is while doing rock work or when you chase another fish. They could die due to breaking the arrow and it takes them very long time to regenerate any broken limb. I love arrow crab, they have that light foot technique that the coral would not be bothered being walked over.

Yeah, he was tricky to get out of the bag... I finally drained most of the water and dumped him and the rest of the water into my tank. I hadn't thought about doing rock work with him around, thanks for the advice. He is awesome to watch, I'm really glad I got him and hopefully him and the wrasse will take care of my bristleworm infestation.

Yes, it is better to do research before you buy.
Sixlines are great fish and will scavange some of the bugs and worms you may have in your tank. Along with that, they seem to accept most foods including flakes. Watch for swim bladder issues. I personally like them and have kept them for a couple of years in my tank, but some others here feel that they are too aggressive towards other wrasses.
You should do well with this fish. As long as the swim bladder is fine, these fish seem to be very hardy.

The four line wrasse is less aggressive and actually nicer looking then the six line. I was going to buy a six line for bug control and after doing some research found out they can be nasty, and that the four line would be a better choice. Hope yours turns out to be a good one though, there are many six lines people love.

Yeah I've been trying to do some research beforehand, but it goes against my nature. I went looking for a yellow tang and they had none of the right size, so since I'd been set on the arrow crab and a fish I asked the guy in the store and made an impulse buy.

Thanks for the advice... I'll keep an eye on him and try to curb my reaction to buy all the fish in the store without doing some reading first.

My 6 line is great, never stops swimming sometimes fights with the royal gramma but never anything major, they are just neighbors that argue sometimes. Great fish and will help with your bug problem. :)
