Cyano Bacteria

I've been noticing an algae growing on my sand bed. I?ll clean it and it comes back within a few hours, I?m guessing its Cyano bacteria. If I increase my water changes will this clear up the algae.


Just a little background
The tank has been running for 5 months
I had an ICK outbreak a month ago and removed all the fish. Theirs currently undergoing a copper treatment in my hospital tank.



Water quality performed using salifert test kits
PH: 8.3
Carbonate Hardness: 8.6
Calcium: 440
Magnesium: 1320
Nitrate: 2.5
Salinity: 1.025

Many ways to go about fixing it. I prefer cleaning up the tank, manual removal, while I wait for it to grow out. IME it doesn't reoccur with this approach, at least not in outbreak status.

You might check your phosphates too.

Your aquarium is still quite young and may still be developing into a stable ecology of organisms. Is this a large outbreak? Are you concerned about the slime smothering your coral?

It?s only on the sand bed toward the left side of the tank not affecting and rock or corals. If I was to measure it, we?re looking at 6? X 12? area. I want to resolve the issue before it does get out of control.
I replace my carbon and GFO yesterday just to see if it makes a difference.
