Starting a 120

should I use Poly Pads while I cycle my 120 soon to be reef n fish tank? I put new live sand, new water and rock I've been curing for the past month.

Also, is it safe to keep the 2 chromis in my refugium area once I flip the "on" switch?

Should I also keep chaeto in there?

You don't need poly pads while cycling. I would remove any fish while cycling, wait on the chaeto. Just put in a table shrimp to jump start the cycle.

Just to be clear I shouldn't have any media running, like carbon for example?

No, no media. Let the tank cycle first. Just keep an eye on the ammonia first then the nitrites and then the nitrates.
