Refugium lighting

Refugium lighting is one thing I can't figure out. I tried an led light from Home Depot, 5,000 k with 840 lumens. The light did nothing, so now I am trying a new light this time a compact fluorescent with 120 watt equivalent, 5,000 k and 1100 lumens. Does anyone have any comments, I have this light running over the fuge right now and will keep everyone up to date with the progress. Hopefully I will see results within a week or two.

I just went with 24" t5 grow lights

I have those fluorescents over my fuge and they work good.

great to hear, I really hope these work. Ever since I started I have had a horrible hair algae problem because I don't have a working refugium.

It's only in Home Depot. I just picked up another to add over my fuge

Some of these have built in metallic reflectors.
The one you posted has white paint.

I used the same bulb you have pictured its a regular cfl with built in reflector works great , however it has less spread than if you use a plain cfl with clip on fixture so it just depends on the fuge size , if you bave a large fuge youll need 2 or 3 of them

The light I got is cranking. And the reflector is silver not white.

I just need to move the tank a little so it centers under the beam. Water is a little cloudy from planting mangroves
