I just finished installing a screen top from BRS on my 75g. The only issue I had was that my skimmer is a Reef Octopus hang on skimmer, so I had to leave space for it... I want to fill in that extra space, as I'll be keeping fish in the tank that could potentially jump. Here's a pic to show the space that's left. I tried using a piece of egg crate, but the egg crate kept breaking, and the holes in egg crate are a little too big anyway. Thinking of just using more of the mesh and just taping it to the rim of the tank, cutting holes for the skimmer parts... Or maybe something a little more rigid like the plastic screens that are used as drainage mesh for bonsai... Or... Does anyone have any ideas?

Apparently I can't post pics until I get 5 posts (I'm new here) but I just cut a hole in the mesh the size of the pipe

I thought about doing that, but would like to be able to remove the screen for tank access, and if I had the protein skimmer's pipes running through the screen it would make that a bit more difficult.

I think I'm going to try this stuff. It's a plastic screen that's used in the bottom of bonsai pots. Comes in 24" square sheets, so should be plenty big enough. It's easy to cut and it's rigid enough that it should hold its shape without having to be stretched... We'll see...

u could also go to your local hardware store in the lighting department they should carry what is known as egg crate (its the white squares u see everyone sticking there fragged corals into) cut some small pieces to size an paint if cosmetically not appealing. or u could do surgery on your new mesh u just ordered:idea:

take a piece of acrylic the size of that space, and make holes of the tubes.
with the tubes going thru the mesh it will be a pain to remove the screen. i think
