I recently purchased a 39g Cadlight Signature after doing some small modifications and return nozzle relocation, I'm waiting for the aquarium silicon to fully cure(Aqueon Recommends 48 hrs:sigh:) After it cures I have new Ocean Direct "live sand" im going to install this sand after i put my "base rock" down. Some of the "Live Rock" I am going to use is completely cured and has some nice coraline algae already growing on it(about 10-12lbs) from the original set up system. I also have some new rock I want to put in about 15lbs.

Very Important I have the original 39g of water that was in the system prior to being taking down for mods. Its currently in a QT tank with power heads protein skimmer, light and a few corals, and a lonesome clown:sad2:

So now here is my concern. If I do this will i not have the start of the nitrogen cycle problems because I am using all mature stuff from the original set up with minor "new" additions????

Is the base rock and the new rock you refer to currently in water or is any of it dry? Adding dry rock can cause a mini cycle.

I cured one of my tanks with just live rock because I was waiting on my live sand to be delivered. Once I added it, it caused a mini cycle as well.

I have 2 med 1 small hammer coral. 1 xl Duncan 70+ heads a toadstool leather 1 birds nest.

They are all currently in the QT tank. Do u think that this livestock will be fine for that time frame?

You can try adding the sand and most of the live rock to your new tank first, keeping the fish/corals in your QT with some live rock for bio filtration. Add a small source of ammonia to the tank to see how quickly your new tank is able to cycle through it and then transfer over the remainder of the rock and your livestock. Just to be safe

Don't know how well the sps would fair in a new tank though

No, but I think that's the safest route you can take. Like Bioman said, if you have to question it, it's best to wait a little longer.

You can choose to throw everything in right away and maybe everything works out which would be great but there is also the possibility you end up having a mini cycle and lose your fish/corals. It's the risk you take. Research it a little more and you'll find the similar logic.

Good luck with whatever you choose
