Hey guys

New Reefer here. Had my tank cycle for like 3 months, Fish were QTed for 4 weeks, etc.

I have an IM Fusion Nuvo 30L tank (30 gallons), and wanted to start picking out some easy frags for my tank. I live in NJ, but it takes me approx. 20 minutes to get into Manhattan if I can avoid the peak hours at the tunnels.

I been to Absolutely Fish in NJ, Pacific Aquarium on Delancy, and Manhattan Aquatics near the Javits Center.

I went to Manhattan Aquatics for the first time, and I picked up two mushrooms since I figured that would be the easiest to take care of for now.

I use the Reef Radiance DM-155e (I can't link since I'm a new member). I know my selection of corals depends heavily on lighting + flow (Using a Jebaeo WP 10 on one side, and Koralia Nano 240 on the other side) + what other corals I have too so they don't kill each other.

So basically, I want to start adding color to my tank, so I want to get maybe like 2 more then to let my tank settle for a bit, etc. So where are the good spots to go to, or which Member's basement since I know people also frag their own to sell :)

It's 20 miles from me.
Worth the trip I believe.
They have good pricing and a good selection and the owner gary is a great guy. He is there sunday and Monday.
Of course if some reefers lived near you that's usually cheaper.

What kind of quarantine system do you guys recommend for corals ?

I may have dumped the mushrooms, but that was before knowing that corals can carry ich cysts which can then go and try to find hosts. I've grown attached to my first fish and would love them to have long and healthy lives

I'd also dip the corals in Coral Rx or similar products to remove pests. The majority of the time I don't find anything but there have been several occasions I removed pests I didn't want in my tank. These were frags from reputable stores and other MR members. Only takes a few minutes of your time

cmantis, ill go to bk for from free zoas LOL

Def trade first. it comes out less expensive and doesnt hurt the pocket if they dont make it.
i second the coral RX, i dont have it but i dip min ein Hydrogen Peroxide/ water mix and that does the trick too.
Zoas, Shrooms, GSP are def the best way to start off and test the aquarium

Hey man, Welcome to the hobby. I am new myself and have been using the for sale/for trade thread and you can find some real nice pieces of coral for sale on there. Probably cheaper then the LFS too. One member on here lives in jersey his name is jr (something) I forget and he has a real nice selection of corals that you may be interested in. Good luck with the hobby!
