I finally learned how to search for old threads and in doing so found one about flat worms. I am literally shaking I HATE any kind of worm and the thought that my tank can have or get this later freaks me out. Does anybody know how to prevent flat worms in a tank ??????????????????:irked: :supermad: :frown: :grumpy: :irked:

Flatworms are not the good kind of worms though. However, if you don't add any coral or 'shelled' invertebrates (snails, crabs, etc) then you probably won't have to worry about introducing them to your tank.

Besides, flatworms don't look like the 'traditional' worm you probably creep out from. However, bristleworms, spaghetti worms, medusa worms, peanut worms all have that, 'hey, that's a worm, 'look''. ;) But those are good (for the most part).

no worries. Flat worms don't look like worms. They look like little clear or reddish ovals on the glass. If you hate the other worms, just get a friend to remove them from your tank with chopsticks :) You can probably give them to a reefer friend who could use some cleaners! If it is going to creep you out - get rid of it!!!!

Nemo, It is your tank. If you hate worms, have a friend take them out for you. Chopsticks work great.

There are going to be times when you have to put your hands in the tank - no need to be worried about a worm biting them off - joking - :)

lol that is sooo sensitive of you Leslie. Nemo, follow the advice of the experts here, I guess you can always QT any new addition to your tank, and maybe medicate them before you introduce them to your tank. That will minimize the possibility of any wormy slimy slithery hitchikers in your tank... crawling in all the secret nooks and crannies of your rock.... waiting, stalking, hoping for a chance to.... (sorry I got off on a literary tangent there) But, enjoy your tank :)

Well I do have about 20 snails and 30 hermit crabs. I am not planning to get any coral. I got the arrow crab to get rid of the bristle worms I hope I dont get any flat worms.
