Barebuttom

Anyone here has a barebuttom tank.
Im trying to upgrade my tank, and thingking about bare buttom.

I am still undecided on this one Sand bed harder to keep nutrients down but I really don't like the look of bare bottom !

If I was to re do tank I'd very strongly consider no sand

A lot might have to do what kind of tank you want. Are you planning Reef tank, FOWLR, SPS, Mixed Reef, Ect. What kind of fish? If your going with a few wrasses you might need sand bed. Like SPS tank I like bare bottom ect,...

If you want burrowing wrasse a glass bowl in the back of the rock work with some sand would be just fine. I have burrowing wrasses and they just sleep in the rock work. Haven't noticed stress on the fish

Nope just placed it in. They will cut it at the exact size you give them

I use starboard to cover the bottom of the glass since it's no longer being protected or cushioned against a rock or heavy rocks dropping and cracking the bottom of the tank. Looks great when coralline algae growns on it. Not glued in. Just use the weight of the rocks to hold it down.

This is my glass bowl. I made a rim with HPDE board to keep the sand in when they dive in or come out.
