Hmmm Russ you need to re-read what he wrote as well. He said he started keeping Freshwater and Pond fish 16 years ago, not started keeping Reefkeeping 16 years ago ;)

This game is fun :teeth:

Unless Arkady started reefkeeping at birth, I'd say he's older than 16 ;)

I am 32

I am 32 - and a psychiatrist. Originally from Russia (technically, Uzbekistan) - thus russianmd. I live in Park Slope (around the corner from the new Brooklyn Burger Bar, formerly Bar Minnow).

I did start keeping fish at 16 - a low tech planted amazon biotope with a school of cardinal tetras (still my favorite FW fish) that all got huge (about 3") and lived for several years. I broke down that tank when I moved to California for residency.

In my pond, I have some 7 Sarassa, from 2" to 7", - and this year has been very weird because the temperature has yet to be below 40 in the pond. So they are still pretty active and grazing on some algae on the sides of the pond.

Back to the topic - I went to Thousand Island today (was planning to go to World Class as well, but ran out of time). They will call me with a quote tomorrow to build the tank. The store looked pretty great - no other pets (and no puppies, thankfully). They sell LR for $6/lb - which seems pretty high.

Thanks for all the welcoming messages. I am really excited - this has been a long time coming, and it's great to finally be taking some action.

You might be right, Randy - though it seems that everybody is spending their money on new gadgets - not mental health care :)).

I do think that a reefaholics anonymous is not a bad idea. It just seems it would lead to more frag trading than anything else. -A

This is too perfect. One of the few things MR really needs BADLY is our very own shrink. Arkady you can hold hours on the Reef Graffiti.

Arkady, I've got no experience with that brand/mfg. The acrylic does look like it's 1/4" (thin IMO) for that size fuge. It might be decent, I just can't say for sure.

A 20 gallon AGA drilled tank will serve the same purpose and save some cash. A fuge doesn't need to be fancy at all. If you're looking to incorporate the fuge into your sump, then you can go with a 40 or 55 gallon sump/fuge. It really is easy to do.

Before you go for it, we can talk about it more at the 'meet'.

Russ
