How often do you do a water change? Test the water?

I usually do a 25 % water change every month, at that same time I clean the power head and canister filter hose. I add the part 2 calcium and alkalinity every day. I was testing the water every two days for amonia nitrates ph and alkalinty but is this to often?

I change out 10 gallons each week from my 112
I test for cal & alk everyday (cauz I'm still adding corals making my params wonder with each addition).
After I'm finished adding i'll be testing only after I do a water change.

that would put you at around 5 gallons a week?! (I think)
