where can i get silver sides

i need to feed my anemones and know that i can try to feed them that, and cant seem to find them.

Petland, petco and most LFS's have frozen Silversides for sale, just call them first to see if they are in stock.

Got to the fish markets as they carry them. I get them by China Town for $1-$2 @lb which is a lot cheaper than the LFS.

i went to 3 lfs stores and they looked at me as if i was dumb so i thought they were hard to find. lol

Go to the LFS on FreshPond Rd. and Palmetto or Fishtown...if a lfs doesnt know what silversides are then don't get anything from them...

Depends on the silversides...real silversides are sold frozen in bait shops and frequently fresh in fishmarkets...Menidia menidia, family Atherinidae. While usually 3-5" long, some tackle shops may have leftover frozen "snapper" bait, 1-2" long. During the summer, 5 minutes worth of towing a 6' long seine net in a local bay will give you more than you could possibly use (I'd suggest frying them up...they are delicious....).What an LFS sells as "silversides" are some kind of white fish with black eyes, I believe it is a kind of anchovy...about 1-1.5" long, occasionally 2"....these can be bought very cheaply at any Asian market that you'd find in Chinatown, Elmhurst, or Flushing...they even have them at the market on 63rd drive. In the freezer section, but usually defrosted in the fresh fish section as well. Take care, Eric

yeah my husbadn just bought from a petco becuase the chinese fishmarket around me was closed. and my husband checked really good cuz he found, a nice bag from sally bays i belive that were whole. but it was 8.00 for an 8 oz bag. they also had another bag but it looked like it was put through a blender.

anyways do i clen them or just cut them up and feed it to my anemones.

Be very careful what you buy from bait and tackle shops and a lot of time the fish were caught by dragging the local bay and container all kind of garbage that can kill your fish.
