You mean sea hare?
I had one that probably died in my 26g, went MIA.
Never noticed any problems w/ water parameters.
Just my experience.

Yes very experienced with them. I had 3 and about 2 weeks ago i noticed one had been in the same spot for 3 days so i touched it and it was hard and partly deteriorated on the bottom. Nothing really happened to the tank though. I heard the same about them poisoning the tank but I think thats more possible if you have a sea cucumber die in your tank. Sea Hares are amazing algae cleaners, best ones ever.:D

Ive lost a few in my tank over the years. Never had a problem. On a side note how bad is this, i was cleaning my reef tank (125)overflows and took all the hair alage that was growing in them and put it in my 30 cube for the Sea Hare to eat. They decimate algae!

I have had a few and they are great cleaners, I try to have one in the tank at all times. Mine tend to die after three or four months, and none of them have inked while dying. I have had one get caught in a seio while my hand was in the water and it did ink. The ink looked like blood, and for a second I thought I had cut my hand in the water. It turned the water pink for a day, but I ran a lot of carbon and did a small waterchange and nothing was hurt by it.

Side note, the sea hare that got caught in the seio was stuck in there for about 30 minutes. I couldn't get it out and actually had to take the seio out of the water, grab the sea hare's body, and yank it out slowly. It was out of the water for about 15 minutes and I assumed it was done for -- its head was shredded.. I put it back in the tank, it stayed relatively still for about 2 days, and then began grazing again. Still alive today! I think they are sensitive to water conditions but very resistant to physical trauma..

If it gets stuck in one of your powerheads there is a potential chance that it might affect your water depending on the size of the tank. When they get stuck like on a tunze where they don't reach the impeller but are stuck and cant move they take a while to die and while there stuck will start releasing lot's of of purple ink in the tank which could pose some problems.......
