well i'm no expert but i believe that the water has to pass thru a membrane in order to meet the requiremnts of water quality you are looking for. All the water that cannot pass thru the membrane gets rejected out thru the other line. Or something like that.
I never used a pressure guage before, I just test that water for phosphatges and such after I run the R/O to make sure it meets my standards.
And the bucket tequnique is def the way to go. I got 3 5 gallon buckets in my closet right now with air tight covers. Got em at Home depot for next to nothing.
