Gotta move my damn tank:irked: . New furniture coming, gotta make room and move the tank about two/three feet down the wall. I a 58 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump, 65lbs of rock, 30lbs of sand, a bunch of snails, two cleaner shrimp and a clownfish.

My plan would be to siphon half the water out into a RM Brute, put rock and clownfish in Brute, siphon more water into RM Brute. I'll leave about an inch of two of water in tank, use a prybar to lift one end up and put those furniture moving pads under it. Do the same for the other side. then gently slide it down. What a pain!!

How's that sound, any tips?

I've have moved many tanks several times and reefman is right move the tank and stand seperately. Whether moving an inch or mile it is the same amount of work. The Garbage can idea will work for most of your water and live rock but get some 5 gallon buckets 1 for livestock and 1 for corals and the rest for sand. When everything is out, reposition the stand put the tank back on and start the process in reverse. It will take a few hours to complete the process.

i want to give this a stab.i would get rid of 20%of water like a water change.put the remainder of water which would probably leave 30 gal of water figuring weight of rocks, put that in a tub with live stock and rocks have another person help u lift tank move the stand to where you want then tank then add water from tub then live stock and rock.get your new ro/di water and now your tank is moved and you did your weekly water change.just my opinion

LOL!

Was the discussion:

"Wife, I am not moving the tank and that's final!"

OR

"Please my lovely, darling wife, can we just keep the tank where it is for now and try it that way for a while? I promise I will never forget to take out the garbage again, and we can spend as much time as you want at your mother's house, and maybe get some new furniture for the bedroom as well."

Wife: You know, WE should move the tank all the way down to the end of the wall(TWO FEET), so we have more room for the love seat.

Me; :scratchch Ya, that's a great idea, :Up_to_somWE will spend three hours moving the tank two feet. You'll need to help, cause we have to move quick. Go get the buckets, etc., etc., etc. I hope we don't break the tank, kill the fish or scratch the floors :ANYWORD:

Wife; :tired: You know what, it;s fine where it is:thrash: .

i wish i was as smart as you. i had to move my 40br today because the cable company has to work where the tank used to be.

it took me about 10mins. i removed 20gals of water and slid it to the other wall. then put the water in the sump and turned on the return pump. finito!
