Observations:

1. Live rock isn't as gross as I thought it would be.
2. I need to get some gloves for working in the tank. Salty water pwnz my skin oils twice backwards
3. Crawlies after only one day. HF LF DY-NO-MITE!
4. Shiz be expensive. An LFS had base rock for $50 ... wtf I'm not paying that much for base rock

check it here for pix and info and such:

$50 for an ugly, dry chunk that probably weighed 20#. It had perpendicular angles and straight lines a la cinder block.

I cut matching windows in the backing on the 'fuge and the backing on the aquarium and lined them up. If I want to peek thru and see my macro algaes growing and such, now I can!

You can see what it looks like from in the fuge (with the window closed). There is a slot I can slide in there to keep light pollution out (eventually the 'fuge will be illuminated @ night).

I think thats a really cool idea. I want to see some pics at "night" with the tank lights off and the 'fuge on. Better yet, do you have actinics on the tank? Kewl.

You're moving a lot faster with your setup than I am with mine! I'm still in the process of building a hood. The first coat of paint went on last night. But, I have to keep on telling myself that I should *not* put water in yet. I want to make sure everything is all set up and ready to go first.

Fast is a relative term :) I spent about 3 agonizing months here posting, learning, saving up cashola and equipment bit by bit.

I will take some night pix tonight. Both the fuge light and the main light are 1/2 actinic PC strips.
