We have a 155 gal. reef aquarium. So far only snails, hermit crabs, live rock, regal tang and (2) gobies. We have an AC duct over the top(the aquar. is built into a wall between the kitchen and living room). a fan blowing over the top of the aquar, and a fan blowing on the sump. The temp. ranges from 78.6 in the a,m. to 79.7 in the afternoon. We would like to start putting corals in. Will we have a prob. with this temp? We are trying to avoid a chiller because of the noise and space requirements. Thank you, Dawn.

Most coral we keep in this hobby will be fine with your temperature range. Have fun! 8)

Yes, your temperature is excellent.

It sounds like you have a nice setup. Show a pic sometime when you get a chance.

Is that the temperature with lights on 12 hours?

No, you do not need to lit the tank for 12 hours a day, but it's a good number to test your tank's water temp with.

If the light is on and the temp is below 80, your setup is looking great!

I wouldn't want to go too much lower than that but you are definitely fine. Many of us run our tanks in the low to mid 80's, especially during these warm summer months when it's nearly impossible, without a chiller, to go any lower.
