Hi new to the site here, picked up my first coral, a beautiful pulsating xenia, and put little guy in my tank, and was wondering what type of acclimating time before they open up like they were in the store??

Give it time. You should also always acclimate them, not just dump them in. If they're happy, they'll open up soon. I'm not an Xenia expert, so I'll leave the technicalities to some one else, but hope this helps! :D

Hi damselmaster,

IME Xenia are one of those hit-or-miss corals. Either they seem to take-off and grow like a weed, or they do nothing...LOL. Only time will tell. Most corals take a few days to a few weeks to settle-in, but some can take much longer. Good luck with your new setup and your first coral.

damselmaster,

How did your xenia work out. Are they still alive? Did they open up finally? I know with mine it would take a day or two for them to totally open up.
